Laurie Owen

Laurie Owen is an independent theatre practitioner. He has been improvising for 5 years, and ran weekly improv sessions at The University of Leeds Students’ Union for three years. He has a degree in Theatre and Performance, and is passionate about the way improv teaches us to question societal ideas of creativity, elitism, access to the arts, and representation in media. Laurie is an openly trans man, and being able to express himself through improvisation has always been a part of his queer journey.

Laurie is not only teaching at the festival, but has been instrumental in its organisation - taking a lead on all of the fun non-improv activities folks can enjoy. At the festival, he will be performing at with The Vox Pops and in The Teacher Jam.
