What’s this Class?

This workshop is a joyful exploration of tone in improv. Silliness and sincerity can appear to be at opposite ends of the tonal spectrum, with most of us playing within our default range, so what happens when we experiment with surprising combinations? Let’s add a sprinkle of mischief to a serious moment, or find the depth in something absurd. Discover how heartfelt emotion and joyful stupidity can co-exist and rather than killing a moment, actually make it richer and more memorable.

This workshop is for you if you want to have your improv cake and eat it too: you crave authentic connection between characters and you delight in utter nonsense. Gain practical tools for intentionally creating light and shade in a show, and even within a scene.

Who’s this for?

Students should be comfortable improvising longform scenes
