What’s this Class?
What happens if we don't agree on stage? What happens if your character says no instead of yes? In this workshop we're going to learn how and when to stand our ground - and how this can lead to richer, longer, more interesting scenes.
This workshop is for anyone that is afraid of 'breaking' a scene, or find themselves overthinking or judging themselves or others
Who’s this for?
Participants should have competed a beginner improv class, and ideally have some live improv performance experience.
About your Teacher
I'm the director of Belfast Improv, and have been teaching Improv as my main line of work for over a decade. I teach all forms, including niche forms such as Musical Narrative, Pretty Flower, Deconstruction, and JTS Brown.
I've taught in Dublin, Manchester, Luxembourg, Lisbon, Budapest, Shanghai, Chicago, Arizona (Flagstaff, Tuscon, Phoenix).
I'm performer-focused, not form focused. I try to remove the barriers that make individuals self-conscious, judgemental, and anxious, and give people specific tools to make them feel more competent. I go heavy on scene work, and like to hear active reflection and discussion after a raft of scenes.
